“Instagram doesn’t limit you to the Caribbean, sweetie.”

That’s the message I got from a close friend after I told him I’d received an inquiry from someone outside of the Caribbean. And let me tell you, it peeled open a part of my brain I hadn’t thought about before.

Most times when I’m posting content, my thoughts feel closed in. I often assume I’m only posting for the people who already follow me, the familiar faces who double-tap here and there. But if you’ve ever really paid attention to your insights, you’ll know that’s not the whole story. Instagram shows us the breakdown of how many people who see our content are followers vs non-followers, and sometimes that number will shock you.

When that inquiry came in, I was stunned, not because it was the first, but because it was the third time. The first two times I brushed it off as coincidence (especially since I wasn’t even on island at the time, so I couldn’t accept the work). But by the third time, I couldn’t deny it anymore: people were finding me, seeing me, and reaching out beyond borders.

Was it a little scary? Absolutely. To know that people I’ve never met are watching what I’ve carefully created feels both vulnerable and overwhelming. But at the same time it’s exhilarating. It reminded me that I’m doing well, even when the numbers don’t always scream “success.” It reminded me that my name and my work are in rooms I haven’t physically stepped into yet.

And maybe that’s the reminder you need too. Your work is reaching further than you think. The seeds you’re planting, whether through your creativity, your business, or even just your consistency, are making their way into spaces you may never see firsthand. Don’t box yourself in. Don’t assume your audience is small just because it feels small. Someone, somewhere, is watching and waiting for what you have to offer.

So, let this serve as your reminder: keep creating. Keep posting. Keep showing up. Your reach is bigger than you think, and your name is traveling further than your feet have carried you.
